Aligarh to Delhi – Roller coaster ride!
Was coming back from Aligarh as I usually do after every few weeks and the same thought crosses every time. Why can’t we have better roads? Aligarh is just about 135 kms or so from the Metro city Delhi … infact technically its even NCR (kms wise)… still the connecting roads are so bad one would think that we are somewhere in interiors of Bihar (I believe even there Nitish Kumar has improved the situation!)
The road connecting Delhi Aligarh – whether you take the national highway 24 via Ghaziabad or take the Greater Noida expressway via Pari chowk or take the palwal road … they are all same. The road is almost not there at many places…. like a big stretch between Aligarh and Khurja … then the over head bridge near the erstwhile Reliance petrol pump just outside Aligarh… the over head bridge just after the Chaudhari dhaba in Bulandshehar … they are all so bad that you don’t know where to drive and where to avoid. And in most of these places the road is much higher and thus the chances of loosing control and getting toppled over are much higher.
More then the infrastructure the fact that this is a road right next to Delhi and the amount of traffic is humongous at all points of time … whey isn’t any thing done about it. Almost every other day there is an accident … coz the entire stretch is without any dividers and absolutely no street lights. Now I have traveled some of the other highways … like in Rajasthan, Chhattissgarh, Jharkhand etc and no where the situation is so bad. I do understand that this road has more traffic but then that’s all the more reason to take care of it… Why nothing is done?
Is there anything that can be done on individual basis?
Is there any answer?
